Sales from the Garden

Since all the seed used in the garden has to be organically sourced, the organic seed catalogues tend to select varieties that grow well under organic conditions. This means they may select varieties that have a natural resistance to some of the more common diseases and these are not necessarily the varieties we are most familiar with. Variety is the spice of life!

sales area with customers browsingBesides fruit and veges, H.O.P.E. offers a wide variety of plants and shrubs for sale all year round. These come at prices well below those charged by conventional garden centres.
For example, during the summer we have the old favourites of bedding plants such as Impatiens, Begonia and Marigold, as well as Dahlia, Salvia and two types of Petunia. For the hanging basket enthusiasts there are several types of trailing Lobelia, Geraniums and two of trailing Fuschias.
Regular perennials are always available, such as Geum, Dianthus, Heuchera, Geranium, Aquilegia, foxgloves, several grasses and a range of rockery plants. We now also have a full range of shrubs and climbers: there are two types of Clematus, Honeysuckle and Jasmine along with Spirea, Hydrangea, Weiglea, Ivy, Holly, Skimmia and Ceanothus to name but a few.
Depending on the season, we also have ready-planted alpine containers and off the shelf planted hanging baskets. We will also offer the service (at some of our open days) of planting up your empty hanging baskets ready for you to hang up.
In December we sell holly wreaths and tubs of hyacinths, tulips and other bulbs.
Other items that are periodically on sale, depending on availability, are natural wooden planters (hollowed out elm trunks), sycamore slices for use as edging, and firewood (both logs and kindling).
